Couples therapy that takes the sex as seriously as the conflict. I’m a licensed clinical social worker, an AASECT-certified sex therapist, and a gay man who’s married. I work online with gay and queer couples across Florida on desire, agreements about monogamy and openness, and repair after broken trust.
Gay couples in Florida have spent several years absorbing a steady hum about whether your family is a legitimate one. That doesn’t stay outside. It shows up as an edge in how you talk to each other, as a fight about Thanksgiving that’s really a fight about safety, as sex going flat with neither of you connecting it to anything.
What I treat: low or mismatched desire, sex that has stopped altogether, erectile difficulties and performance anxiety, the specific pressure gay men carry about bodies and stamina, PrEP-era anxiety, sexual shame carried in from family or religion, and non-monogamy agreements that need renegotiating. How Couples Therapy Works
Does online couples therapy actually work?
Yes, and it gives you total privacy, no local network overlap, and access to an AASECT-certified sex therapist even if the nearest one is three hours away.
How long does it take?
Most couples work weekly for four to eight months. I won’t keep you in therapy indefinitely.
We spend part of the year up north. Does that work?
It does. I’m also licensed in New York, New Jersey, and New Hampshire, so moving for the season doesn’t interrupt the work.
Is This For Us?
We disagree with each other about politics.
Plenty of couples do, and I don’t take a side inside your marriage. If the climate here is affecting your relationship we’ll work on it directly and I won’t minimize it, but I’m not going to turn your therapy into a political education.
We're non-monogamous. Is that a problem?
No, and I won’t treat it as one – or as automatically healthy. It’s a set of agreements that either work or need renegotiating.
What if our main issue is sexual?
Then you’re in the right place. Most couples therapists were never trained in sex and route around it. I treat it directly, alongside the relational work, in the same room.
