AASECT-Certified Sex and Couples Therapist
I’m an out-of-network provider by choice, and clients deserve to know why. In-network care means an insurance company shapes your treatment: session limits, required diagnoses, and access to your records. Private-pay keeps clinical decisions between you and me, with complete confidentiality. For therapy about sex and intimacy, that privacy matters more than most.
I’m an AASECT-certified sex therapist and licensed clinical social worker who specializes in the things people have the hardest time talking about: erectile dysfunction, low desire, performance anxiety, painful sex, infidelity, and the slow erosion of intimacy that happens over the course of a lifespan. More than half my practice is dedicated to helping couples and individuals work through exactly these kinds of concerns.
My approach is direct and evidence-based. I draw on emotionally focused therapy to help couples understand the attachment patterns driving their conflicts, psychodynamic work to uncover what’s really going on beneath the surface, and specialized sex therapy techniques grounded in decades of clinical research. My clinical insights have been featured in Men’s Health.
I hold an MA in Trauma and Crisis Studies from Tel Aviv University, an MSW from Yeshiva University, and earned certification in sex therapy through the Modern Sex Therapy Institutes.
I live in Brooklyn with my husband and our dog, Bernie. When I’m not in session, I write and produce music.

Your Questions, Answered.
Everything you need to know about starting your journey with me.
Out-of-Network, Explained
What does "out-of-network" actually mean?
I don’t bill insurance directly. You pay per session, and I give you a superbill, an itemized receipt you submit to your insurer. If your plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, and many plans do, they reimburse a portion of the fee directly to you.
How do superbills work, step by step?
1) Attend your session and pay as usual.
2) I provide the superbill with everything yourinsurer needs.
3) Submit it through your insurance portal or app (services like Thrizer automate this).
4) The claim counts against your out-of-network deductible.
5) Once the deductible is met, a percentage of each session comes back to you.
What might I actually get back?
A realistic example: Say your plan reimburses 70% of out-of-network mental health costs after a $1,000 deductible. Your first five couples sessions ($1,250) largely go toward the deductible. After that, each $250 session returns roughly $175, making your effective cost about $75 per session. Every plan differs, which is why the next question matters most.
What should I ask my insurance company?
Call the number on your card and ask: Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health? What’s my out-of-network deductible and how much is met? What percentage do you reimburse for CPT codes 90834 (individual) or 90847 (couples)? What’s your “allowed amount” for those codes? Do I need pre-authorization? Ten minutes on that call tells you your real per-session cost.
Payment Logistics
Do you accept insurance directly?
No. I’m out-of-network for all plans. Many clients receive meaningful reimbursement through superbills; the questions above tell you what your plan does.
Do you offer a sliding scale?
My rates are fixed. If cost is the deciding factor, say so on the consultation call and I’ll do my best to point you toward lower-fee options with sex therapy training.
Can I use my HSA or FSA?
Yes. Therapy is a qualified expense, and both cards work in my payment portal.
What's your cancellation policy?
24 hours notice. Late cancellations are charged the full session fee, though I’ll always try to reschedule first. True emergencies happen; contact me as soon as possible.
